An actress on a platform against the light: it is Romeo who contemplates Juliet on the balcony and also Juliet who discovers him and then Desdemona, Othello, Emilia, Lady Macbeth, Macbeth. She plays males and females, without distinction. In Shakespeare's theater women could not act, they had no voice: therefore she, the actress, is paying off a debt and repairing a wrong. Playing male characters is fun and terrible like a transference but stepping into the shoes of female creatures is the exploration of a mystery, of what she does not know about herself, until the encounter with death, a violent end that every time she dreams of being able to change, and since it is not possible, she can give them something back: her Voice.
