INTERNATIONAL RESIDENCY ITALY / TAIWAN - Taiwan Dances

Italia / Taiwan

Thanks to the International Residences Project within the NID Platform - New Italian Dance Platform, which invests in artistic processes and promotes collaboration between artists, programmers and cultural institutions at international level, the Teatro Comunale di Vicenza, from 6 to 22 May 2024, hosts three artists of the Shinehouse Theatre / Want To Dance Festival in Taipei.

It is an artistic residence that provides for a public restitution on May 22 and some significant meetings between Taiwanese and Italian artists, to compare methods and exchange the best practices of dance. Shinehouse Theatre offers a snapshot of Taiwanese choreography in changing times, presenting three talented dance artists of the Want To Dance Festival: Chieh-Hsuan Yen, I-Chun Hsieh and Pei-Tzu Lo. In this residency, realized with the collaboration of Gwen Hsin-Yi Chang, Dance Dramaturg & International Partnerships Consultant of Want To Dance Festival, they will share their current choreographic research on the body as a means of connection and expression and further investigate the relationship between individual and collectivity in different cultural contexts.

The bilateral residency project Italy/Taiwan within the NID Platform – New Italian Dance Platform, promoted and supported by the MiC, General Entertainment Management, together with the host Regions and Adep/Federvivo-Agis was made possible thanks to the support of the Italian Office for Commercial and Cultural Economic Promotion of Taipei, the Ministry of Taiwanese Culture and the Representative Office of Taipei in Italy. It relies on the collaboration between Fondazione Teatro Comunale Città di Vicenza and the Shinehouse Theatre / Want To Dance Festival in Taipei.
