GRINDHOUSE, a lecture performance in Horror Studies. GRINDHOUSE investigates the body of the horror genre. The device with which this body is investigated is the construction of a lecture performance in Horror studies.
The horror genre is a monstrous creature, which has generally been recognized as having a non-prominent place in the institution of cinema, its genealogy is in darkness and fear, it sinks into the unknown, the unstable, the formless, in things that change. It drips the boundaries of the logos and, while bringing fear into the open, it gives it a body.
Inside there are a series of essays and hundreds of films seen, re-seen, chopped up, frames, audio clips, essays, memes, fandoms, recipes for fake blood and special effects, failed productions, memes, screams, doors that open by themselves, corridors, tunnels that descend and get lost in the darkness.
The research takes shape through an assembly and copy-paste of horror film fragments, to explore the concept of horror genre as a dismembered and reassembled body, imagining a reflection on genre as an entity.
