We could define Hamlet - Chronicles from the Interzone as a contemporary rewriting of Hamlet. Hamlet is in the Interzone - we are introduced to this by the character Burroughs, who opens the dance - and in a perpetual loop he finds himself in front of his mother Gertrude, Ophelia, Claudius, and then Lacan, thanks to whose presence/shadow the concept of Desire - central - in Hamlet is discussed in an ironic and cutting way.

The staging includes two actors and one actress: Antonio Perretta, Sem Bonventre and Leda Kreider. Antonio Perretta will carry on the character of Hamlet throughout the show, Leda Kreider will play Gertrude and Ophelia, while Sem Bonventre will alternate in the interpretation of the other characters (Burroughs, Lacan, Polonius, Laertes). There will be quick costume changes visible on stage, with a few simple elements to identify the interchange of the characters. In the text there are explicit references to who is speaking during the various scenes, so the characters in dialogue will always be clear to the audience.

A dance of life and death suspended in the limbo of the Interzone: we are in Tangier, we are in Denmark, we are in an American metropolitan city, we are in a contemporary European city, and Hamlet, brought to the limit of his strength by these spectral visions, wants nothing more than to try to kill his author in order to stop this infernal vortex. Will he succeed? And what will happen to the character Hamlet, once free from his father-author? What passage opens up to those who remain without origin?

Shakespeare/Burroughs/Hamlet, Ophelia/Joan, William Tell, relationships, risks and killings, correspondences centuries away of real and invented events, which return and circulate before our eyes in a kaleidoscope of past and present lives.
