Winner of the Academy Award for Best Picture, Rocky returns to the ring in this spectacular new musical.
Rocky is a breathtaking musical, but at the same time full of poetry, extraordinary songs, splendid ensemble numbers. The music and lyrics are by Tony Award winners and Oscar nominees Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, the book by Tony Award winner Thomas Meehan, adapted from the acclaimed Oscar-nominated screenplay by Sylvester Stallone, who also wrote the show.
Rocky Balboa is a small-time boxer from Philadelphia who is chosen to face Apollo Creed, the reigning world heavyweight champion, who was supposed to face another champion who has suddenly been injured.
As Rocky trains with passion and discipline for the fight, he begins a relationship with Adriana, a fragile clerk in a small pet store, tired of being mistreated by her brother. As their love grows, Rocky and Adriana each find their own inner strength and bring out the best in each other.
With equal parts grit and heart, Rocky is about the triumph of spirit, strength and love.
