A fundamental part of Giuseppe Verdi's popular trilogy, La Traviata is the emblem of romantic opera and the most represented melodrama in the world.
Alfredo Germont and the courtesan Violetta Valéry fall in love at one of the parties organized by the young woman. To cure the woman's tuberculosis, the two leave Paris and go to live in the countryside, but Violetta's happiness disappears when she discovers that Giorgio Germont, her boyfriend's father, is paying for her treatment. After discovering that their relationship also jeopardizes the engagement of Alfredo's sister, Violetta decides to leave, for the good of all, except her own.
