The complexity of England in all its facets is at the center of the new and compelling work of Hofesh Shechter for the very young interpreters of Shechter II.
From England with love is an ode to this intricate and beautiful country. In Shechter's choreography the dancers evoke the paradox in the depths of a country, open, generous and in search of its soul, always in conflict between its dark history and strong attachment to old traditions. They engage us in their quest for identity and self-knowledge as they struggle with a complex system of values and conflicting messages. A rich score that combines the breathtaking sounds of English composers, presented in contrast, with wild rock juxtaposed with echoing choir and electronic music in an avant-garde cacophony.
Playful and captivating, full of pride and paradox, From England with Love is presented as a letter addressed to "Dear John" … a farewell note to friends and enemies and a peek into the heart and soul of this beautiful country but at the same time complicated.
