The intense work is built on the taboo of disease, great removed from the perspective of the Western world; and Philoctetes is the removed par excellence, the expelled, the body of scandal. The theme addressed is that of abandonment because of an irreversible disease such as dementia, and tells the torment, the social uselessness and the ban from the world of "normal". The theatre of the tragedy is not the story, the plot, but the very existence of the character: abandoned, confined in the enclosure of his illness, Philoctetes no longer responds to the understandable rules of civil life. And here comes the tragedy, small, domestic, family, in which viewers, as usual in the dramaturgy of the Apulian company, participate in the life of the character, involved in an experiential journey of reliving the myth to share, live, all the power of the drama.
