Considered among the most influential bands of the last forty years, Tortoise finally return to Italy with a tour supporting their new album Touch, released on October 24, 2025.

Renowned for their live performances—described by Rolling Stone as "a miracle of precision and freedom"—Tortoise return to European stages after nearly a decade since their last tour. Featuring a brand-new stage production, their three Italian dates promise to be unrepeatable sonic and visual experiences.

Published by International Anthem and Nonesuch Records, Touch marks their first studio album since 2016 and represents a new chapter for the Chicago outfit, who have always hovered between experimentation and songwriting. The record was teased by the singles "Oganesson"—defined by The New York Times as "a spy-movie-flavored funk track in 7/4 time"—and "Layered Presence," which Pitchfork describes as "an exercise in tension that blends a hypnotic pulse with a constantly searching melody."

Since the 1990s, Tortoise have redefined the coordinates of contemporary instrumental music, blending post-rock, electronica, jazz, dub, and minimalism with a radically collective approach. Albums such as Millions Now Living Will Never Die (1996), TNT (1998), and Standards (2001) became milestones that influenced generations of artists.

As Pitchfork notes, "Tortoise is the convergence point for dozens of different projects and sounds—a freely moving entity, guided by many hands but without a single center." According to the Chicago Tribune, their music is "mood music that refuses to fade into the background, as inviting as it is challenging."

Recorded across Los Angeles, Portland, and Chicago, Touch is the result of a new creative phase for the group's five members—Dan Bitney, John Herndon, Douglas McCombs, John McEntire, and Jeff Parker—who are now scattered across these three cities. The album alternates moments of jazz elegance and krautrock tension with cinematic visions and human-touch electronic grooves. A sound that, as always with Tortoise, is a puzzle to be savored rather than deciphered.
