With Musica Spontanea, Alan Bedin develops a deeply experimental vocal and sonic research project through Esposizione sonora (37’49’’), the Stanza del Suono (Sound Room) installation, and live performances, both solo and alongside the artists involved in the recording.

The physical release—consisting of a limited-edition collector’s vinyl and a CD featuring a ghost track—was originally commissioned by a Japanese label, subsequently evolving into a tribute to Demetrio Stratos, a researcher and fundamental touchstone for the performer.

The core elements of the work are the liberation of sound, improvisation, sound poetry, and the transformation of the voice beyond traditional language and the subservient use of the written text. The project draws inspiration from figures such as John Cage, Fluxus, Luigi Nono, Alvin Lucier, and Robert Ashley, as well as improvisational performance, Indian music, and Stratos’s vocal exploration. Bedin begins with a semiographically written "sound cell," visible on the sonic plates, and then expands it through improvisation.

The centerpiece is the Stanza del Suono, an installation made of metal plates and transducers—contact speakers that transform vibration into new sounds—allowing audiences to even "see" the voice through its modulation on the metal surfaces. The work is published by Artis Records / Cramps Music under the title Musica Spontanea – Omaggio a Demetrio Stratos, featuring collaborations with Paolo Tofani (Area), Saverio Tasca, and Edoardo Piccolo.

Alan Bedin is a singer, performer, vocal coach, and artistic curator. For years, his career has woven together vocal research, avant-garde music, and cultural planning, with a particular focus on the theoretical foundations and vocal practices of Indian music. He has worked as an artistic director and record producer for Cramps Records and currently collaborates with Artis Records by Cramps Music. He has been a guest speaker at the Central Institute for Sound and Audiovisual Heritage (ICBSA) and has taught modern singing and vocal technique at numerous schools and cultural centers across Italy.

In parallel, he champions the promotion of Italian song, collaborating with various musicians to bring progressive rock to Japan and Italian jazz and swing to Africa and Mauritius. His research also extends to sound art and sound poetry through exhibitions, installations, and Musica Spontanea works that have established his reputation within the new avant-garde scene. Combining music, art, and education, and leading vocal journeys that integrate modern contemporary singing with non-European vocal archetypes, his goal is to promote awareness and well-being through sound and the voice.
