Grindhouse - una lecture performance in Horror Studies

Grindhouse explores horror in cinema as a living, mutating body. A monstrous entity that operates as an affective and political machine, blurring the boundaries of logos and giving physical form to fear. The research is constructed as a radical montage of film clips, theories, anecdotes and digital materials, revealing horror as a permanently dismembered and reassembled body, whose viral nature replicates itself through its own fragments. The method is a lecture-performance. A historically marginal creature, horror draws strength from darkness, its vitality residing in its ability to regenerate and betray form, expressing an untamed negativity.

Teodora Grano is an author, performer and researcher. She lives and works in Italy. She has worked without a permanent residence in the fields of theatre, circus, performance and dance, in more or less orthodox formats. She trained and worked in Wroclaw, Athens, Berlin, Brussels and Rome. She founded the Alix Mautner collective. She currently works as a dancer for CollettivO CineticO. Supported by SupportER-network Anticorpi 2022-2024, she is a candidate for the Fondo network in 2024. She was selected for Vetrina Giovane Danza d'Autore 2024 with Daughters, a project that questions family ties, followed by othermothers_il canto delle betoniere (2024), a site-specific project for a factory, and the video work Abbiamo lavorato tanto (2025). Her research is based on future literature, in which the relationship between writing and the body places reading at the centre of the investigation. She uses the form of portraiture and genealogical investigation, searching for historical and social data in personal experience. She collaborated as a writer and assistant director for Piergiorgio Milano in White Out. She teaches movement and aerial disciplines in Italy, Greece and Poland.
