VENI, a goodbye is a choral musical show, whose dramaturgy was born by re-imagining some polyphonic songs of oral tradition of the Mediterranean islands, which the members of Alot learned between November 2022 and September 2024 through a series of research trips to Sardinia, Corsica and Sicily.
The repertoire of VENI, a goodbye includes segments of sacred songs with 3 and 4 vocal parts in Latin. They are prayers that are carefully distilled to let their closest religious content evaporate.
What remains is the search for an answer, for listening and closeness, that human beings address to other human beings, and no longer just to a divine interlocutor.
On stage, the 12 performers arrange themselves next to each other, composing the body of the choir, which, immobile and without the presence of a director, performs the songs live and a cappella.
The musical dramaturgy of VENI, a goodbye is intertwined with a graphic dramaturgy. Illustrations are created live, which make visible some of the words present in the Latin songs and contribute to delivering some meanings to the spectators.
