The "Dance in the ancient style" by Erich Korngold - according to Mahler a genius of music - is a page of great sweetness and serenity. Born in the tumultuous 1930s, Kurt Weill's Second Symphony has nothing revolutionary about it: it is very melodic and very theatrical music.
